Los organizadores de ambas ciudades han expresado su intención de albergar la cita de 2024, por lo que el COI busca que haya un pacto amistoso y se acuerde quién lo hará en 2028. La decisión final será anunciada oficialmente el 13 de septiembre en Perú.
